Administrative correspondence, 1972-1991.

This series consists of correspondence, memoranda, forms, and applications regarding the programs and activities of the Protection Divsion. There are general correspondence files for the Fire Protection Division. The bulk of these records are to or from the division director David A. Frederick and State Forestor C. W. Moody. The series also contains information on the damage to timber from Hurricane Frederick in 1979. In addition to state funds, the Forest Resource Protection Division received assistance from the Federal Emergency Management Agency for clean up activities. Richard H. Cumbie was the division director and coordinator of this project. Cumbie's division also handled the claims and clean up in north Alabama following an ice storm in 1988. The snow and ice caused chicken houses and nurseries (mostly greenhouses) to collapse. The records provide information on the clean-up effort that followed this weather disaster.
